Chris Chapman started in dental in Roseburg, Oregon in 1997 and became a Licensed Denturist there. In 2002 he moved to Hood River as an associate for Gary Hornbeck, who founded the practice in 1980. Chris bought the business from Gary in 2008. Melanie joined as a Licensed Denturist in 2014. Austin and Chris together lead the implant dentures program.
Their other son Christian Chapman runs our in-house lab, and Austin, Chris, and Melanie all stay hands-on in the lab overseeing the cases for the patients they treat. The same person who sees you in the chair is the one who actually designs and builds your teeth.
Three generations. One family. No corporate ownership behind the door. The same people who design your smile are the ones who build it and deliver it to you. They’ve spent their lives mastering this work and they’re here for the long term. When you come in, the whole family is behind your care. That’s the difference.
Chris has served for many years on the Oregon State Board of Denture Technology and the Oregon State Denturist Association. Austin serves on the National Denturist Association Board. The team has presented at the National Denturist Association Conference. Continuing education and craft come first.

In most cases, yes. You walk out with a working set of teeth the day your implants go in. Some offices send you home without teeth, or with a temporary you take out at night, while you heal. We handle it differently, and we aim to send you home with teeth the same day. In rare cases, the implants can't be loaded the same day and a temporary is used while you heal; we'll be upfront with you at the consultation about which option is the best for your case.
